Do you feel at times frustrated and helpless when faced with news item or data about people's suffering - famine, flash floods, child slavery, etc. - and wish you can do something about it?
I often do, and these send me again and again to pray "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven . . . " and in behalf of millions I pray again and again "Give us this day our daily bread . . . ", believing in the earth - heaven connection and the heaven - earth connection. And heaven moved in specific way for me - sending me to The Hunger Site.
The Hunger Site is a showcase of handcrafted products made by people from across the world, particularly from those in need of help; but it is a unique site because of its system of providing opportunity for site visitors to contribute for free a cup of rice everyday by just one click. Advertisers pay for the donated rice which are distributed by reputable charitable organizations. More donations are given when one decide to purchase items being promoted.
Items showcased include jewelry, clothing & accessories, footwear & socks, bags & purses, home & kitchen, gifts & delights, garden, patio & backyard. The Hunger Site is just one of series of click & give, in the site. There are also pages providing help for Breast Cancer, Child Health, Child Literacy, Saving Rain-forest and Animal Rescue each with their additional unique products.
The Hunger Site is a simple yet most ingenuous way to entrain the natural good will of people to help others and to say that it works is an understatement. For the year 2010 the site was able to contribute over 58.6 million cups of rice from the combined clicks (53.8 million) and shopping (4.8 million).
Be part of this great work - which is only the tip of an iceberg. Visit the Hunger Site, bookmark it in your browser and employ the power of networking to share about it to everyone you know. There is hope and means to end world hunger.

Sacred Space - Time for Peace
There can be no better discovery than a website that will give you much needed moments in the presence of God, before surfing the net or doing computer work, after some exhausting and hectic schedule, when merely idling for a while, just before ending the day's work or retiring for the night.
It is a great personal blessing for me to have discovered Sacred Space - the best website for prayer that I find.
Sacred Space is an online prayer site run by the Irish Jesuits.
Sacred Space is peace in the chaotic world of both real and virtual world. It is characterized by simplicity with depth. The site offers prayer and spirituality in the principle of "less is more", the less that leads to an expanding space virtually, and on the same vein, spiritually - at your own pace. Even if you are busy, sacred space is inviting - not daunting with too much offerings - and perhaps more importantly, when you need to slow down. But should you want to go on and on, the sacred space opens up to inner space - your personal adventure with and in the presence of God who is always there yet always beckoning you beyond, towards more of Him.
The centerpiece of the site for me is the day's prayer. It is so simple: a word from God taken from the scripture and the appropriate response from me - a line or two. But these are just the beginnings, yet pregnant with the wealth of God's presence and wisdom. One can simply rest on them, repeat them in one's heart and mind or just let them rest within. They are open doors to continuing intimacy with God - and then there's the peace.
The site offers more but in small bites - which however are fully nourishing to the mind, the heart, the spirit . . .
The homepage and the pages are very fitting to the name of the site. For every page there's a smaller space which is inviting - the contents.
For the non-English internet surfer, Sacred Space is available in Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.
What better way to start the New Year and the days thereafter than with Sacred Space. Keep Sacred Space in your tool bar and bookmark it, so you can find your way into blessed peace anytime you sit before your desktop or laptop.
